Education

  1. Dodoma rural and urban districts are some of the least developed in the country and government secondary schools are comparatively few. Primary education is government mandated; however, many schools have few/no resources, and insufficient staff housing and faculty. In order to be all-embracing in ministry, the Diocese is engaged in the promotion of education and gender equality, from kindergarten through primary and secondary education, as well as offering trade school alternatives. DCT strives at offering quality education, affordable to the poorest, which otherwise is not always possible. Our primary, secondary, vocational programme, theological, Christian formation, and specialty schools are situated in rural and urban areas to help meet educational needs. The ratio of boys and girls is equal, and we have paid special attention to the advancement of girls/women. (i.e., building dormitories at Msalato Theological College and plans for a new Women’s Center)

  2. DCT emphasizes the education of pastors and catechists (lay leaders). It is critical that their education include sound theology and understanding in order to minister, teach, and link their parishes.
